Since 1992, MG Properties Group has acquired and managed over 140 properties totaling over 20,000 units. Today, the Company manages over 14,000 apartment homes in over 55 communities in high-growth cities in California, Arizona, Nevada, Washington and Oregon. The company’s apartment portfolio has a total market value of over $2 billion.

MG Properties Group is seeking a Financial Analyst to assist the Company’s Investments team by performing financial analysis of multifamily properties held for investment with the use of proprietary investment models developed in MS Excel, organize incoming investment offerings and support the preparation of private placement offering materials used to solicit equity investors. In addition, other related tasks that may be required in the transaction process for acquisitions, dispositions, loan financing and equity raises as necessary.

The following list of duties and responsibilities is not necessarily all-inclusive. Different or additional duties and responsibilities may be added to this position at the discretion of the Company, depending on business and staffing demands:

  • Construct and operate detailed, complicated financial models in Excel of apartment investment opportunities, including acquisition valuation, preferred equity and joint venture equity waterfalls, and lender underwriting
  • Research and summarize revenue and expense comparables
  • Analyze and present rent roll summary trends
  • Review due diligence materials to identify critical issues
  • Work with operations and construction teams to incorporate due diligence findings into financial models
  • Compile and analyze market data and trends to support investment review (including demographics, occupancy data, expense analysis, aerials, maps, and rent/sales comparables)
  • Draw objective conclusions from analysis and present recommendations
  • Assist in preparation of investment offerings
  • Assist with post-acquisition accounting integration
  • Assist the Acquisition team in the loan underwriting process through due diligence gathering and analysis
  • May assist other Company departments members as necessary depending on project demands
Qualifications:

  • 1-3 years of experience in an investment, financial analysis environment supporting investment or acquisition decisions
  • Previous experience with multifamily or commercial property investments
  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and proficiency of MS Office system computer software
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, real estate, or a related field
  • Completion of education/training in related real estate industry courses preferred
  • Industry related certifications/designations preferred (eg. CFA, CCIM)
  • Excellent computer skills with an expert level knowledge of Excel and advanced working knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Solid understanding of profit/loss financial statements
  • Extremely detail oriented and self-motivated
  • Strong research, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Highly analytical thinking with demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving and streamlining complex work processes
  • Strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Capacity to meet tight deadlines and handle multiple tasks/projects to support transaction timelines
