Rodgers Consulting, Inc., an 80 person, deep-rooted and well-established land development consulting, planning and engineering firm exclusively serving private real-estate interests in metro-Maryland and headquartered in Germantown, MD., seeks a Chief Operating Officer.  

Candidates should have extensive experience in either or both the land development or architecture/engineering industries. At least a basic understanding of and most importantly an appreciation for the unique nature of the real estate, entitlement, and development approval process is essential. Further, the candidate must be an exceptional leader, manager and coach who is passionate about helping others achieve their highest potential. This position will serve as a member of the firm’s nimble Executive Committee and will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer.

Roles & Responsibilities

  1. To anticipate the organizational needs of staff, clients and the firm, and proactively develop, implement, evaluate and refine processes that support the firm’s needs.
  2. Lead, manage and continue to evolve and improve the firm’s human resources processes, including staff development programs and initiatives, staff onboarding process and experience, and monitor and evaluate health care and other benefit options. 
  3. Lead, manage and continue to evolve and improve the firm’s financial management process, including backlog and proposal management, invoicing and management of accounts receivable and payable.
  4. Work closely with the CEO, Executive Committee and Technology Team to help lead, manage and continue to evolve and improve the firm’s use of technology to support the needs and opportunities for staff and clients.
  5. Work closely with the CEO and Executive Committee to support and continue to evolve and improve the firm’s branding, marketing, business development and client relationship strategies and tactics.
  6. In concert with the Executive Committee, participate in strategic planning efforts, and assume responsibility for the implementation of certain aspects of the firm’s strategic plan.
